It all started from the video above.
A young kid thought he was being treated unfair and decided to make a video about it. It dealt with the site known as Comicbookmovie.com. Now I have heard of the site but it is one of those sites that let users bring the news. So most articles are just taken from Bleedingcool.com or Latinoreview.com. but it seems like a great place to talk comic book movies none the less.
This kid goes by catalyst in his YouTube video and explains how he thinks he has been treated unfair.
Jim Littler, cofounder of ComicBookMovie.com also known as "Galactus" decided to take his battle with the kid to his website and wrote this:
"Hi gang. Galactus here.
Recently, late in the night (coward), a disgruntled ex-user whom I had previously banned for constantly disparaging the site was able to get back in with a new IP address and post a Youtube video of himself ragging (again) on our beloved ComicBookMovie.com. His rant was a common one I've heard many times before, "My article was deleted unfairly ... An editor stole my news story ... and ... ComicBookMovie is biased."
(If you want to see the whole whiny thing, you can see it on YouTube HERE.)
I used to allow these negative "editorials" to stay up on the site mainly to show everybody that we could take honest criticism, and that we wanted user's input to improve the site, but I decided after awhile that most of these complaint articles weren't really "honest" at all because they contained quite a few false assumptions, and misleading accusations, as well as a misunderstanding about how we run things here. In fact, most of the whiners have not taken the time to read our style guide or learn the ropes. They just immediately want their work to appear on the homepage whether or not the article meets any of our guidelines.
So, while we try and address any concern that users bring up, I no longer allow CBM-bashing articles unless they expose a REAL issue that we want to debate in the comment section. "
Yeahhh. Kind of harsh. I mean I get it he says people are too sensitive but as an owner of a site he should know he will get every kind of
The top writers of the site decided to post on twitter and make fun of the poor kid. This didn't seem professional at all.
On fan of the site pointed out how the co-owner "Galactus" was behaving in response to peoples opinions on the site. He didn't seem to like it. He claims it is not a "Democracy",which is fine but makes it seem like if you disagree with him or his main editors your dead! Well maybe not dead but he was throwing out some bans as well.
^^^@Galactus
This is why people are pissed. I've been coming here for years. I love this site. It beats the hell outta Superherohype and we all know it. If I got banned (and almost did for flamming someone so hard she went crying to Galactus and he deleted every comment I ever made) I'd make a new IP just to be on here.
That being said, I can understand the kids frustration. He obviously loves coming here and it didn't sound whiny at all but a valid statement. I've had the displeasure of having my article deleted for a regular user and I was pissed, but I kept trying and eventually I made it to the front page. I was for the Batman Arkham City comic. Anyway, I understand his frustration.
The problem here is that Galactus, whom I've actually spoken with and know his real name, is acting a bit ridiculous here. If you didn't want people to call you out on something wrong you've done why even make this article at all? It's pointless.
I understand voicing your opinion but you being the owner or co-owner of this site, you have to show a bit more maturity than the 12 - 40 some-odd-year-olds on here. You can delete my account. It doesn't matter. I'll be on here the next day with a new IP cause I love this site but you're better than this.
Real power comes from not giving a damn about criticism and being able to let things roll off your back. Again we love this site but all this is childish. Please don't let it happen again.
Galactus Insert: You (and) others need to understand that this is NOT a democracy. While I have opened the door to all comic book movie fans, and invited you all in, you are still in MY HOUSE. I (and Nate) make the rules. I'm sorry if that is too harsh for some of your sensitivities, but it IS the bottom line, and there is nothing wrong with saying that.
One of the bigger writers Josh Wilding, kept on making fun of the kid as he post one of the kids fanmade movies based of "Ultimate Spider-Man":
"Just in case any of you needed any more convincing, the kid who made the videos bitching about CBM is a little...strange. "

Again I get they are upset someone called them out but come on, they can leave the kid alone. It is done and over.
The site seems to be filled with older guys, so it may not be the best place for kids under 18 years of age. The third comment on the page reads:
"That kid is like 12 lol. Some people are so sensitive. Once he actually touches a woman I assume he will stop caring about things such as hit article getting deleted on a comic book movie website."
Another commenter wrote:
"The kid isn't pathetic. Just misguided. I'm guessing he's 14 or 15. Back then, I thought that everything that I wrote was [frick]ing gold, but the truth is much of my writing was riddled with grammatical errors. That's probably what Galactus, JW, and Ror are referring too. Also, EVERYONE who's against Galactus seems to be missing the POINT! This is his website! Not yours! He pays the bills! Not you! Writing articles is a privilege. If people think they would be so much better at running a site like comicbookmovie then create your own site and see how it works. I'm pretty sure many of you who think Galactus is being harsh would whine like babies if so much negativity is directed towards you. And specifically towards those whiners, chill the [frick] out. There are more important things in life than being first on posting an article. If you really want to work for Galactus and comicbookmovie, why not email him a sample article in and conduct yourself in a civilized manner? Let him decide. And if you don't like the decision, as I alluded to before, start your own site!"
Most parents wouldn't want there kids to hear these kind of things said about or to their son.
I just think the site went about this all wrong and by reading all the comments in the article it seems the site is split down the middle on the matter.Instead of dealing with this behind the scenes they decided to make an example of this guy. Did he have it coming? Maybe it is a matter of opinion but that's what makes this nation so great. We all can say what we want but at the same time it depends on whose house your in. This is in Comicbookmovie's house and if you say something they don't like they will get rid of you.
Is this some kind of abuse of power? Sure but they have a right too. That being said fans also have a right to choose a site that let's them voice their opinion.
